CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Glens Falls, the No. 1 ranked team in Class A downed Beekmantown 92-42 in the subregional round of the state tournament Tuesday night. This performance comes just days after the Black Bears defeated Catholic Central for the Class A Section2 championship.
Leading the charge for Glens Falls in points was Brody Holcomb, who dropped 23, chipping in was Oscar Lilac, scoring 17 points. Two other Black Bears finished in double figures.
The Black Bears offense knocked down back-to-back three’s, and a two-point layup to start the game on an eight-to-nothing run. That offensive fury set the tone for how they wanted the game to go. Glens Falls led 27-4 after the first quarter, didn’t let up in the second, and went into halftime with a 51-12 lead.
This win feels good to the Black Bears, but they know they can’t overlook any future competition they will face.
“When we get off to a good start we pass the ball around, and we always look good when our shots are dropping,” said Holcomb. “We keep coming out with the same intensity that we play with every game, we can’t take no teams for granted, and we know what we want to achieve, so we just have to keep working hard.”
The Black Bears will play the winner of Massena and Westhill on Saturday, March 9, at Hudson Valley Community College. The tip-off time is set, for 5:15 PM.
