Florida hosted many top prospects over the weekend for its initial junior day event of the year and one of them was Georgia commitment Tae Harris.
The Peach State prospect, who often reports solidity to the in-state Bulldogs, made the trip to Gainesville to connect with the new coaches under Billy Napier and he got some good news along the way with a scholarship offer extended.
Harris said he got about 20 minutes one-on-one with Napier before he left campus. He also got time with new secondary coach Will Harris.
“Coach Harris, I like him,” he said. “Great man, expressed to me how much he needs me in the secondary.
“They like my versatility. I can play everywhere in the back end.”
On board with the Bulldogs since last summer, Harris says his status has not changed despite changes with his future position coaches in Athens as well. He’ll soon return to campus to connect with the new faces. Georgia Tech is the next scheduled trip, set for next weekend, however.
Florida is pushing the right buttons with the junior at this time, though.
“They sit up pretty high,” Harris told Rivals. “I feel like I’m a priority to them.”
The time with Napier reinforced the message to the four-star talent out of Cedartown (Ga.) High School.
“Coach stressed how important defense is to him and how I could factor in for the next three to four years,” he said.
Harris also added an offer from UCF over the weekend.
