Blue Jays’ Gausman, Yankees’ Cole, Twins’ Gray finalists for AL Cy Young

Toronto Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman, New York Yankees star Gerrit Cole and Minnesota Twins right-hander Sonny Gray are the three finalists for the 2023 American League Cy Young Award.
Gausman, 32, is a finalist for the first time in his career after leading the AL with 237 strikeouts in 31 starts for the Blue Jays. He had a 3.16 ERA this season with a 12-9 record to help the Blue Jays reach the playoffs for the second straight year.

Cole has twice been the runner-up for the Cy Young but never won the award. He led the AL in starts (33), innings pitched (209) and ERA (2.63). Gray is a finalist for the first time since 2015 after posting a 2.67 ERA in 32 starts for the AL Central-champion Twins.
The award winner will be announced on Nov. 15.
