Newly appointed California Democratic Sen. Laphonza Butler stated she is not going to search election to a full time period in 2024.
Butler — who was named earlier this month by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom to finish the remaining time period of the late Dianne Feinstein — stated in an announcement she made the choice after contemplating “what sort of life I wish to have, what sort of service I wish to provide and what sort of voice I wish to carry ahead.”
Her candidacy would have sophisticated an already crowded race that options a number of different outstanding Democrats, together with Reps. Katie Porter, Adam Schiff and Barbara Lee.
