A 52-year-old Cambridge woman faces fraud charges as police continue to investigate missing money from two Christmas markets.

Waterloo regional police received 55 reports of fraud from vendors who were part of the It’s a Christmas Market. The event was scheduled for Nov. 12 at Bingemans, but was cancelled after the event organizer said on social media she lost vendors’ deposits.

The organizer was also accused of losing funds for a second event, the Christmas Shopalooza- Groovin’ Bytes. Police say they are investigating 12 reports of fraud from vendors connected to that event.

Both events were temporarily cancelled, but several vendors got together to save both markets.

Police arrested a Cambridge woman on Saturday and she was charged with fraud over $5,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.

Police say there may be other victims who have suffered a financial loss in connection to both events and they ask those people to contact investigators.
