Phil Gould believes the Dragons at Kogarah, off the back of a flogging at the hands of the Dolphins, is a dangerous prospect for the Cowboys.
Speaking on Wide World of Sports’ Six Tackles with Gus, Gould said the Dolphins “ambushed” the Dragons at Redcliffe last week, but the bounceback game should be a tasty prospect for Shane Flanagan.
“I think any coach worth his salt would love to be coaching the Dragons this week,” Gould said.
“These are the real challenges in football – I used to love to coach the games where people said you couldn’t win or you’re understrength … and the big ones of course.”
The Dragons remain understrength – Francis Molo is suspended, while Jacob Liddle, Hame Sele, and Jaydn Su’a are injured. Corey Allan is out for the season with a knee injury.
Gould said the challenge for Flanagan would be to “paint a picture” for his troops to “believe in ang get the job done”.
“That’s where you earn your money as a coach, that’s what sets you apart,” Gould said.
Gould said he believed the Dragons can win.
“The game starts at nil-all this week – you don’t get any credit for what happened or any penalty for what happened last week,” he said.
“It starts at nil-all. There’s a bounce back factor, an embarrassment factor you’ve got to take into it.
“And it’s the Red V at Jubilee.”
