SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — “I think I’m going to be perceived as a nerdy dork,” said Moriah Gaynor, a City of San Diego employee who’s been cast on Season 46 of “Survivor.”

On Wednesday night, the popular reality TV competition show announced its latest castaways who will be stranded on the islands of Fiji as they battle it out for the $1 million prize. The premiere episode provided a deeper look at each contestant.

Gaynor, a 28-year-old program coordinator for San Diego’s Performance and Analytics Department, said in a CBS promo video that she was inspired by previous contestants to “make connections in a very true-to-yourself form” while on the show.

“Coming out here (Fiji), breathing the fresh salt air, I want to walk away from this remembering this feeling of ‘the possible’ that’s out there,” said Gaynor.

“Survivor” — a CBS hit series — shows the struggles of survival after a group of strangers are dropped off at an isolated location, where they must fend for themselves. This includes providing food, fire and shelter while in the elements of nature.

While on the show, each contestant will also be being tested through a variety of challenges, both physical and mental. From running and swimming to puzzles and endurance trials, those on “Survivor” are all vying to be the last person standing. Members of the group are gradually eliminated by their castmates throughout the series.

“I do not want to be remembered as the ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda.’ And even if you’re going out guns blazing on day six, I want my legacy to be like, ‘yeah, no she could not have done anything different. She did it all,’” Gaynor continued.

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Boca Raton, Florida native — turned San Diegan — described herself in these three words: driven, quirky, and sentimental.

Those character traits can be seen in action as Season 46 unfolds. The next episode airs on Wednesday, March 8 on CBS and Paramount+.

Good luck, Gaynor!
