Expect temperatures to drop quickly this afternoon, Environment Canada says, as a “sharp” cold front hits Hamilton, Norfolk County, Brant County, Haldimand County and the Niagara Region.
The weather agency says winds heading northwest will gust up to 70 to 80 km/h and there will be “sudden icy conditions on roads and walkways” this afternoon into the evening.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement early Wednesday morning saying the winds will ease tonight but temperatures will drop below freezing through the day and may lead to icy surfaces.
The weather agency says Thursday morning will be cold, with wind chill dropping temperatures to minus 13 before noon.
