A 22-year-old Hamilton man is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, police say, because of evidence uncovered during an investigation into a shooting in Stoney Creek.

Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting on Nov. 10 in the parking lot of the Queenston Place plaza.

They found a Hamilton man, 22, with multiple gunshot wounds.

“The victim was transported to hospital and now has life-altering injuries,” police said in an April 5 media release.

Police say witnesses saw a black sedan with a spoiler on the back leave the area westbound on Queenston Road. Officers eventually found that vehicle on fire in the city’s north end.

Police told CBC Hamilton there have been no charges laid for that shooting.

During that investigation, they say they found evidence of a man being involved in the planning of a murder.

“The number of co-conspirators and the nature of the evidence leading to this arrest will not be disclosed at this time,” police said in a media release.

“This investigation is ongoing with efforts to identify the other co-conspirators in this plot to commit murder.”

Officers arrested him on April 4 at 3:30 p.m., according to the service.

Police won’t say what connection, if any, he has to the shooting, but The Hamilton Spectator reports the shooting victim is the man facing charges.
