Huge blaze rips through historic Denmark building as thick smoke billows

A huge fire broke out in the Old Stock Exchange in Copenhagen on Tuesday morning, a historic building known as Børsen in the heart of the Danish capital.
Dramatic pictures emerging from the scene of the incident show huge plumes of thick smoke rising from the building, located next to the seat of the Danish Parliament, Christiansborg Palace.
Several fire engines, as well as police officers, rushed to the cordoned-off area in a bid to tackle the blaze.
The building was undergoing renovation work when it caught fire.
Børsen, which today serves as the headquarters of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, is one of Copenhagen’s oldest buildings, dating back to 1625.
Fears the fire may spread are pushing people to carry outside the most valuable artworks in the building, the Danish publication also claimed.
Following reports of the blaze, several fire engines, as well as police officers, rushed to the cordoned-off area in a bid to tackle the raging flames.
