Copycat Rolls Royce Cullinan from China costs less than 10% of original [Video]

Being one of the most expensive and luxurious vehicles on sale in the world, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is often seen as a highly aspirational vehicle with tremendous desirability. Aside from being one of the most revered dream cars globally, it has also served as inspiration for many other car brands due to its impeccable luxury. Speaking of inspiration, Chinese car brands often take this to a deep level by nearly copying the designs of global cars for their products. One such Chinese car brand, Hongqi, has now introduced a new electric vehicle heavily inspired by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

A recent video from the YouTube channel of Rajni Chaudhary showcases a walkaround of the all-new Hongqi E-HS9, whose design bears a strong resemblance to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. This new luxury vehicle from China is an all-electric version of the Hongqi HS9, which is already available in the Chinese car market as the brand’s flagship product.

Hongqi has introduced the HS9 electric with a dual-tone paint scheme, featuring contrasting shades for the bonnet, pillars, and roof, much like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Like the flagship luxury SUV from Rolls-Royce, the Hongqi E-HS9 also boasts vertical slats for the front grille. The HE-HS9 also adopts a split design theme for the headlamps, with the upper part serving as daytime running LEDs that also function as turn indicators, while the lower housing accommodates trapezoidal-shaped all-LED headlamps.

The rest of the design of the Hongqi E-HS9 also appears to draw strong inspiration from the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, evident in the design of the multi-spoke alloy wheels, door-mounted rearview mirrors, and the angular D-pillars. The Hongqi E-HS9 also appears to take cues from models of other carmakers, such as the angular C-pillar design with a contrast satin silver finish inspired by the Cadillac Escalade, and the massive LED tail lamp assembly reminiscent of the Kia Telluride.

Cabin looks futuristic

Inside, the Hongqi E-HS9 features a highly luxurious and futuristic-looking cabin, with a full-TFT screen layout spanning the width of the dashboard. The cabin exudes premium quality with high-grade beige leather, faux wood and aluminum trims, and an abundance of onboard features. This three-row vehicle is available with two battery pack options: an 83 kWh battery offering a range of 496 km and a 120 kWh battery with a range of 690 km.

Despite offering numerous luxuries, features, and designs inspired by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which has a price tag of Rs 6.95 crore (ex-showroom, India), the Hongqi E-HS9 has been launched in China and other global markets at $80,000 (approximately Rs 66.50 lakh). While it costs only ten percent of what Rolls-Royce asks for the Cullinan, the Hongqi E-HS9 may not be as aspirational as the Cullinan, which has become the best-selling Rolls-Royce model despite its astronomical price.
