The Washington Capitals made it official on Thursday, announcing they had signed free-agent defenceman Ethan Bear to a contract.
The 26-year-old will earn $4.125 million over two years, according to the team. Bear’s contract will carry an AAV of $2.0625 million.
Bear has been skating with the team for more than a week, coming off shoulder surgery during the off-season. He suffered the injury while playing for Team Canada at the 2023 world hockey championship.
Bear has collected 63 points (16 goals and 47 assists) in 251 NHL games with the Canucks, Hurricanes and Oilers.
