French automaker Delage Automobile is back after an absence of over seven decades. The brand is being revived with the introduction of a brand-new hypercar called the Delage D12. In fact, we were the first to report about it back in November 2019.
The D12 hypercar made its public debut in 2020. Now, the carmaker has announced the start of production. Only 30 examples will be produced at its Magny-Cours factory over a period of 4-5 years.
The Delage D12 is based on a carbon fibre monocoque. It has a cockpit-like design with a central seating position. The hypercar uses a contractive suspension system similar to that was used on McLaren and Ferrari F1 cars back in the 1990s.
At the heart of the D12 is a 7.6-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that is paired with an electric motor. It has a combined output of 1100 hp. A lightweight Club variant is also available with a smaller electric motor, limiting the power output to 1010 hp. It also weighs 198 lbs less than the GT version.
