DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department is still investigating a Saturday morning crash where five teens were ejected from an allegedly stolen vehicle, killing one of the teens who was identified as a 15-year-old girl.
The deadly, single-vehicle crash was reported just after 7:30 a.m. on March 30 on northbound Interstate 225 between Mississippi and Alameda avenues. The five teens were the only occupants of the vehicle.
On Monday, police reported that the driver of the vehicle was a 17-year-old boy who was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The agency was not sure whether the boy had been released from the hospital. Officers said he did not have a driver’s license at the time of the crash.
The Aurora Police Department’s traffic investigators are still reconstructing the scene of the crash to determine what led to the rollover event. Excessive speed is suspected, but investigators did not have a specific speed to share.
Additionally, investigators reported finding opened and unopened alcohol containers in the car, which will also be included in the investigation report.
No charges have been filed as of Monday morning, but Aurora police said they are working with the District Attorney’s Office on those charges.
