A transport truck driver from Brampton has been charged after a fatal collision in Woolwich Township Monday evening.
Waterloo regional police said emergency crews responded to the area of Listowel Road and Floradale Road near Elmira at approximately 5:20 p.m. after receiving several reports of a collision.
Police determined through an initial investigation that the transport truck, which was traveling eastbound, crashed with a GMC pickup truck that was stopped for other vehicle traffic.
The 46-year-old Woolwich Township man, who was driving the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The transport truck driver, 56, was not injured. He has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, according to police and will appear in court Aug. 31.
Police said the intersection of Listowel Road and Floradale Road was closed throughout the evening and overnight as police investigated. A large fuel spill was also cleaned up.
