Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale sets new Fiorano lap record for road cars – The Supercar Blog

The Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale is first road-going XX model produced by Maranello. Despite the way it looks, it isn’t as extreme as some of track cars built under the XX program. Still, the higher downforce and improved grip levels have enabled the SF90 XX to set a new lap record for road cars around Fiorano.

The SF90 XX Stradale completed a lap of the Ferrari test track in 1 min 17.309 seconds – a new record for homologated road cars. That’s 1.4 seconds quicker than the time set by the standard SF90 equipped with the Assetto Fiorano package.

According to Ferrari, the car used for the record attempt was equipped with lightweight carbon-fibre wheels and Michelin Cup2R tires. It was driven by Raffaele de Simone, Ferrari Head of Development Test Driving.

Powering the SF90 XX is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with three electric motors. While the standard SF90 packs 986 hp, the powertrain has now been tuned to 1016 hp. The internal combustion engine makes 786 hp thanks to new pistons, a machined combustion chamber and polished inlet and exhaust ducts. The electric motors have also been upgraded to 229 hp.

The powertrain is hooked up with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, which now gets revised software. It enables the car to hit 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 199 mph.
