The term spyder is not often seen in such close proximity to the words Land, Rover, or Defender, but Kahn wants to change that. Its coachbuilding division, Flying Huntsman, is creating what may well be the ultimate beach vehicle.

The 90 Spyder is based on the current Land Rover Defender 90, and seeks to turn it into a fascinating, specialist product that Kahn says hearkens back to the golden age of British coachbuilding.

The two-seater will be made of lightweight, NS3 grade aluminum, and will be handcrafted with hammer-formed panels. Each example will require a lengthy six months to build, but that work will result in a “uniquely stylish grand tourer for two.”

“This project is about more than creating another exciting and unique vehicle,” said Azfahl Kahn, the company’s founder. “It’s at once a consolidation and continuation of our legacy of manufacturing special vehicles, supporting British craftsmanship and keeping the art of coachbuilding alive and relevant.”

As the name suggests, the 90 Spyder will have no permanent roof, but will come with a removable one made of hard-wearing canvas that can be stored in the new cowl. Even with the roof stowed, the vehicle will offer owners similar storage to a factory Defender 90, making it an ideal vacation vehicle.

Built in Conventry at the same factory that made the Aston Martin One77, the first examples of the Flying Huntsman 90 Spyder are expected to start rolling off the line in the second quarter of 2024.

Kahn plans to build just eight of these very special vehicles, and each buyer will have the opportunity to design their own, unique wheels that will be forged by Kahn. Unfortunately, the company has not specified how much the vehicle will cost.
