FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KXRM) — A former youth pastor with the Salvation Army who was found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child has been sentenced to 14 days in jail and five years probation, according to court documents.
Jeffery Williams, 38, surrendered to the Fountain Police Department in November 2022 after an investigation into allegations that he exchanged sexually explicit material with a minor. According to police, between 2014-15 Williams engaged in video chats of a sexual nature with a minor and made plans with the minor to meet up for sex.
According to Williams’ arrest affidavit, when the victim was asked by police if she trusted Williams, “she stated something to the effect of, I absolutely trusted him because of his position.”
Williams was found guilty in October 2023 on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child — one count of enticement and one count of possessing material. Williams was sentenced on Tuesday to 14 days in jail and five years probation as a registered sex offender.
The Salvation Army issued a statement at the time of Williams’ arrest, which can be read in its entirety in this previous FOX21 report.
In part, the Salvation Army said it reached out to the victim in this case to offer any assistance she may require, and it does not tolerate sexual misconduct or improprieties of any kind.
