FREMONT – A 37-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Fremont, police said.
The victim was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest behind a business in the 3100 block of Walnut Avenue on Oct. 25, according to the Fremont Police Department.
Detectives went on to identify the primary suspect as Fremont resident Marquice McClinton.
On Wednesday, officers encountered McClinton while responding to a report of an in-progress battery, police said. Following a foot pursuit, McClinton was arrested near Blacow Road and Brophy Drive.
McClinton was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on a charge of murder, police said.
McClinton has a “lengthy criminal history” and was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault, firearms possession and evading, police said.
