A 34-year-old woman is dead after her home in Gods Lake Narrows caught fire early Sunday morning.

Mounties say they received a report of a structure fire in the East Wasahak area of the northeastern Manitoba community at about 3 a.m.

When officers got there, people from the community had pulled the woman from the home and then took her to the nursing station, RCMP said in a Monday news release.

Officers went to the nursing station, where they say life-saving measures were being given to the woman. She died from her injuries.

RCMP say no other people were believed to be inside the home. The fire commissioner’s office is in the community and investigating.
