Gossip’s Beth Ditto on US anti-LGBT bills and growing up gay in the bible belt

When the American band Gossip first released its anthem ‘Standing In The Way of Control’ – it became a rallying cry to protect same sex marriage in America.

Now almost twenty years later, a record number of anti-LGBT bills have been introduced in the United States this year alone.

Our Culture Correspondent Minnie Stephenson spoke exclusively to Gossip front woman Beth Ditto about politics and pop – as the band releases its first album in more than a decade.
