Karnataka Government buys 33 new Innova HyCross Hybrid ‘Eco-Friendly’ MPVs for ministers

So, in order to take that step towards a greener future, recently, the government of Karnataka added the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV to their fleet. The addition of the highly popular Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV into the fleet was shared by N.S. Boseraju on their X (formerly Twitter) account. For those unaware, N.S. Boseraju is the Minister of minor irrigation, science, and technology in the government of Karnataka. The minister took to X to share the delivery of his new primary vehicle. The government of Karnataka has opted for a white-colored Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV for their fleet. The exact variant of this MPV is currently unknown.

Governments across India love Toyota Innova MPV
The Toyota Innova is the most popular MPV in India. It is loved by families, businessmen, and politicians. Over the years, a ton of political leaders have inducted the Toyota Innova MPVs into their fleets, and the Innova Crysta was one of the most popular MPVs in the fleets of numerous politicians across the country. Now, with the launch of the Innova Hycross hybrid MPV, it will also most likely become the preferred choice of politicians across the country.
Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV
The Innova Hycross hybrid, as mentioned, is the newest hybrid MPV in the Toyota lineup. It sits above the Innova Crysta diesel. The model starts with a price tag of Rs 18.82 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 30.26 lakh for the hybrid model. It features an all-new exterior and interior design, which looks a lot more modern than the aging Innova Crysta. The model is offered by the Japanese automaker in G, GX, VX, and ZX variants. It also offers choices between 7 and 8 seat layouts.
As for the powertrain side of things, the Innova Hycross MPV comes equipped with two powertrain options. The first is a 2.0-liter TGNA in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine comes without any hybrid assistance and produces a maximum of 173 bhp and 209 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the other powertrain option is the same 2.0-liter TGNA in-line four-cylinder petrol engine, but it gets hybrid assistance. This combination produces a maximum power of 183 bhp and 188 Nm of torque. Both of these engines only come with an automatic transmission, and there is no manual transmission on offer.

In other Toyota Innova Hycross news, recently, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, unveiled the all-new flex-fuel Innova Hycross hybrid MPV. The model unveiled was in a prototype stage. The new Toyota Innova HyCross flex-fuel MPV has been designed by Toyota to run on ethanol. For those unaware, ethanol is a biofuel which is a much cleaner source of energy. This prototype vehicle came equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack capable of providing sufficient power to enable the vehicle to operate in EV mode. Currently, there has been no confirmation of the launch of this model in India.
