High winds knocking out power in some Capital Region communities

CAPITAL REGION (NEWS10) — A multi-day storm with high winds caused damage in some areas of the Capital Region on Wednesday. Thousands were without power as a result.

By 9:50 p.m., around 20,000 homes were without power. Wind gusts in some areas reached over 60 MPH and were particularly damaging in the Northern Berkshires, Southern Vermont, and the Taconic Hills of Rensselaer and Columbia Counties, according to NEWS10 Chief Meteorologist Steve Caporizzo.
