Two deaths about three hours apart in north central Winnipeg are both being investigated as homicides, but police do not believe they are connected.

Officers were called around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday to Burrows Avenue, between Powers and Salter streets in the North End, about a seriously injured woman. The 20-year-old was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where she died.

Then around 4:50 a.m., officers were called to a multi-tenant residence on Selkirk Avenue, off Austin Street N. in North Point Douglas, about a suspicious death.

A crew from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service had arrived earlier and found a deceased man. Police have not released an age but confirmed he was an adult.
