Japanese car manufacturer Honda has been present in the Indian market for over two decades. The Honda City is one of their most popular models that is still in production. The car manufacturer did offer a variety of models in the market. Some of them worked, while the others did not. There are other models which were only available in the market for a very short span of time. The Honda Civic was one such sedan. We got the 8th generation and the 10th generation Civic sedan in India officially. There are several examples of modified 8th generation Civic sedans from different parts of India. Here we have a video where a 2019 model Honda Civic has been modified with genuine Type R body kits.
The video has been uploaded by Road Pulse on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks to the owner about the modifications done to this 10th generation Honda Civic. The owner starts by talking about the story of the car. Like many, the owner is also a Honda loyalist and was using a WR-V before this. He exchanged his WR-V for this used Honda Civic.
He searched for the car for almost six months and finalized it from a dealer in North Kerala. The car was actually in very clean condition. The 10th generation Honda Civic is very rare on Indian roads as it was not available for sale for very long. Due to low sales and steep pricing, Honda had to discontinue the sedan sooner than they had imagined.
The owner, after buying the car, invested in Honda’s genuine Type R body kit. In India, we did not get the Type R version, which is a much sportier version of the sedan. There are several aftermarket kits available for the Civic in the market; however, the owner wanted the original kit and probably imported it. He probably got the kit installed from the authorized service center, as he can be heard saying in the video that he had good relations with the service center staff.
As part of the kit, the front stock grille and bumper were replaced with a much sportier looking Type R unit. The Type R badge can be seen on the grille, and the large air dams on the lower bumper give it an aggressive look. Coming to the side profile, the stock fenders were also replaced. The new ones are wider, and they neatly fit on the existing parts. The stock alloy wheels were replaced with aftermarket 18-inch alloy wheels. The side skirt is also part of the body kit.
The owner also mentions that all the modifications that he has done to the car are well within the legal limits, which means cops won’t actually be after him. Coming to the rear, the car gets a Type R rear bumper with faux exhaust tips. The owner mentions that he has not installed any aftermarket exhaust for a sporty note. Due to legal issues, he has restricted himself from performance upgrades too. The video mentions that the owner has spent almost 4.5 lakhs on the kit. The owner is quite happy with the overall performance of the car.
