Man sharing hotel’s unconventional shower room sparks mass confusion

A video of an unusual hotel room shower facility has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip was posted by Chase Lee (@chaseleee) and has had 1.1 million views since it was shared three days earlier.
A message overlaid on the video says: “Please look at the shower in the hotel I’m staying at,” as a man looks at the camera with his hand over his mouth.
A caption shared with the post reads: “Shower closet!” The footage shows a wooden door being opened, which reveals what appears to be a shower facility inside a closet-sized space. A shower curtain was also shown hanging from a rail at the top of the door frame.
The latest post comes as just over 10 percent of Americans were said to consider bathroom amenities to be among the top three factors that influence their choice to stay in a hotel, according to the 2023 State of the Hotel Industry report by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA).
Property amenities and room amenities were among the top three factors for around 20 percent of hotel guests in the country. However, “price remains the top factor likely to influence a consumer’s choice to stay in a hotel,” the report said.
The demand for hotels in the U.S. is projected to surpass the levels seen in 2019, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. hotel industry is expected to see 1.3 billion occupied room nights in 2023, marking a 56.9 percent improvement from 2020’s low of 831.64 million occupied room nights following the onset of the pandemic, according to the AHLA report.
The rise in “bleisure travelers” who blend business and leisure trips and “digital nomads” who make the most of remote working policies represented a “significant shift in consumer attitudes and behaviors,” the report found.
