Lately, there has been a trend among Indians living abroad: they’re bringing their vehicles from their current country to India via Carnet and using them extensively. These cars are utilized on Indian roads for a few months before being taken back to their home country. While some people rely on shipping companies to transport their cars to India, others take up the task themselves and drive the cars here. Here, we have a video showcasing an Indian who drove his Ford Bronco SUV all the way from Canada to India.
The video was shared by Her Garage on her YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger interviews the owner of the Ford Bronco, who drove the SUV from Canada. The owner has lived in Brampton for the last 10-11 years with his family. Originally from Delhi, he frequently visits India. The owner mentions that he chose the Bronco because he was already using a Ford SUV in Canada and found it suitable for his needs. He also has a soft spot for American SUVs due to their impressive road presence and spacious cabins.
He purchased the SUV in 2022 and drove it for almost 18,000-19,000 km before starting the trip. He was highly satisfied with its performance. The Bronco featured in the video is the Outer Banks variant, equipped with a 2.7-liter V6 petrol engine generating 310 PS and 510 Nm of torque. He replaced the stock wheels with 37-inch AT tires and aftermarket alloys. His journey began from Brampton, Toronto, and continued to Halifax. He shipped his SUV from Halifax to Liverpool in the UK, then flew there and drove a rental car for around 600 km to retrieve his car. From Liverpool, he traversed through France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and finally entered India, covering around 19 countries during this trip.
The owner was extremely pleased with the SUV’s performance throughout the journey, mentioning positive responses received while driving in Germany. Throughout the trip, covering almost 19,000 km, he encountered no issues with people, authorities (except in Bosnia where entry was denied), or the vehicle. He spent approximately Rs 7-8 lakh solely on fuel.
At hotels where proper parking was unavailable for the SUV, he slept inside the car, given the difficulty in finding parts for this American SUV. He did encounter a cracked front windscreen during the trip and has now placed an order for a replacement. Fuel quality was not an issue, except in Iran. The owner also showcases how the convertible top of the SUV can be removed and also other features in the SUV. The owner intends to keep the Bronco in India for at least 6 months and has already had it serviced at a garage in Delhi specializing in exotic and imported expensive cars. He carried all the necessary filters from Canada. He mentions paying only Rs 3,000 for the SUV’s service at the workshop and was very satisfied with it. Mahindra Thar and other SUV owners often turn their heads on the road, having never seen a Bronco on Indian roads before.
