2024 INFINITI QX80 Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos
[ad_1]
What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Infiniti QX80? What does it compare to?
The 2024 QX80 is a three-row SUV with a retro outlook. Compare it to the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Nissan Armada.
Is the 2024 Infiniti QX80 a good SUV?
While far from the most modern luxury SUV, the old-school QX80 is a decent value for those seeking a big vehicle capable of towing, too. It’s a 5.8 on the TCC scale. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What’s new for the 2024 Infiniti QX80?
With a redesign due for 2025, the QX80 sees few tweaks for 2024. There’s a new Dark Chrome Appearance Package that does exactly what its name suggests, and the entire lineup now comes with three years or 45,000 miles of free maintenance.
The bulbous QX80’s shape is now in its 14th model year, though light updates over the years ensure that the latest model looks at least a little different than those on the used-car lot. The curvy exterior is brash and busy, but not totally overdone like the Lexus LX. It’s lacking the styling cohesion of the Lincoln Aviator and Cadillac Escalade, though.
Inside, plush seats and copious wood trim lend an upscale air. There’s enough Nissan-sourced switchgear throughout to remind us that this model is truly just a tarted up Nissan Armada, though.
Underhood, the 400-hp 5.6-liter V-8 lacks hybrid or turbo tech as in nearly all rivals. The 7-speed automatic transmission does a great job keeping that V-8 in its power band, though, and the QX80 has a soft, comfy ride—in part because it weighs about as much as a city block. Look for just 15 mpg combined with four-wheel drive, but at least the QX80 can tow an 8,500-pound trailer.
In curves, this big SUV flounders around like the yacht that it is. That said, the Sensory trim level’s hydraulic body control system keeps things in check reasonably well. Too bad it’s the costliest version.
The QX80’s cabin easily accommodates four or five passengers in rows one and two, while the third row is fine for kids. The cargo area sits high off the ground, but you’ll find 50 cubic feet of cargo space behind row two, or double that when shifted into maximum hauler mode.
An update a few years ago brought with it a decent infotainment system largely shared with the Nissan lineup. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto help, too.
The QX80 hasn’t been crash-tested in a while. Every version comes with the expected array of collision-avoidance features plus adaptive cruise control, but Infiniti doesn’t offer a hands-off system like Cadillac and Lincoln.
How much does the 2024 Infiniti QX80 cost?
The QX80 starts at $76,045, plus $3,150 for four-wheel drive. That money buys leather seats, Bose audio, a wireless charging pad, and a power liftgate, and it’s where we’d stop—unless the $91,000-plus Sensory with its hydraulic suspension and cooled front seats appeals to you.
Where is the 2024 Infiniti QX80 made?
In Japan.
