A cool and possible wet weekend is ahead for the area, but it is November so it’s not really a surprise.
Saturday is Remembrance Day and there are a number of ceremonies in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County.
The Kitchener Rangers are hosting two games at home this weekend: Friday night it’s the Peterborough Petes with puck drop at 7 p.m. at The Aud. On Sunday, the Rangers host the Soo Greyhounds. That game gets underway at 2 p.m.
Guelph Storm are also home Friday night, hosting the Flint Firebirds starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
If you need to drive this weekend, here are some local prices:
Celebrate Deepavali (Diwali)
Saturday 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Waterloo Public Library, John M. Harper Branch
It’s Diwali on Sunday, so don’t be surprised if you hear and see fireworks this weekend.
The event at the Waterloo Public Library is being held in collaboration with the Tamil Cultural Association of Waterloo Region and will include art and performances.
A special event is also being held at The Hub in Kitchener Sunday night to mark Diwali. It will include live music, dancing, food and decorations.
History Rocks
Friday 8 p.m.
TheMuseum, Kitchener
This is a film screening and concert event from Swedish metal band Sabaton. The film tells stories of the First World War from Sabaton’s most recent studio album, The War To End All Wars.
The event will also include performances by Canadian metal bands Ammo and Borealis. Tickets are required.
Kitchener Tequila Expo
Saturday 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Bingemans, Kitchener
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Organizers say they’re on a mission “to educate and promote the love of tequila and mezcal.” There will be vendors with various well-known brands, cocktails and beer, as well as food, craft vendors and live entertainment.
Tickets are required.
The Community Players present An Ideal Husband
Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.
251 Jacob St., New Hamburg
Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband is a comedy that follows politician Sir Robert Chiltern and an unwelcome visitor who threatens to reveal a secret that could destroy his career.
The Community Players are known for putting on a great show and as such, there are limited tickets available for this weekend. The play also runs Thursday to Sunday next week.
