A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed multiple times in Kitchener on Sunday.
76-year-old man stopped suspect from fleeing scene, police say
A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was found with multiple stab wounds in Kitchener on Sunday.
Police were called to the area of Margaret Avenue and Guelph Street at 9:30 p.m. Sunday after reports of a stabbing. They found a 30-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was arrested at the scene because a 76-year-old man had stopped the suspect and subdued them until officers arrived. The passerby who stopped the suspect had minor physical injuries, police say.
Police say the suspect and the woman are known to each other. The investigation is ongoing.
The 30-year-old man faces four charges:
- Attempt to commit murder.
- Assault with a weapon.
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
- Failure to comply with a judicial release order.
The suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing.
