Lambo Urus And F-150 Raptor R Try And Fail To Outrun Tesla Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck may look like something you’d find in the notepad of a 10-year-old would-be car designer, but beneath the controversial bodywork are plenty of impressive technologies and features. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the Cybertruck is just how quick it is in a straight line.

Tesla has long used the acceleration of its EVs as a major selling point so it’s little surprise that it is doing the same with the Cybertruck, noting that the tri-motor ‘Cyberbeast’ version is the quickest-accelerating pickup truck on the market. Eager to see just how quick it is, CarWow lined it up alongside a Ford F-150 Raptor R for a series of tests, both on the pavement and on dirt. It also raced Elon Musk’s latest creation against a Lamborghini Urus.

The races against the Urus go just as you may expect. Whereas the Cybertruck features three electric motors delivering a combined 845 hp and 685 lb-ft (930 Nm) of torque, the Urus ‘makes do’ with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 650 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm). While quick, the Lamborghini has no chance of keeping up with the Tesla. It is the races with the F-150 Raptor R that we find most exciting.

In one corner you have the Cybertruck, the future of high-performance pickups while in the other corner is the ultimate version of America’s best-selling truck. The Raptor R is at a power disadvantage to the Tesla, pumping out 700 hp and 642 lb-ft (870 Nm) but it does weigh over 350 kg (772 lbs) less.

On the pavement, both the Tesla and the Ford rocket off the line with blistering speed but it is the Cybertruck that comfortably takes the victory in each of the races, except when they race each other in reverse. The most entertaining races come at the end where the Cybertruck was positioned on dirt while Raptor R remained on the pavement, giving it a helping hand to keep pace with its new electric rival.
