Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Eric Cernak is being held out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders because he missed a team meeting, the team announced.
Cernak’s benching comes with the Lightning just four points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs for third in the Atlantic Division.
With 10 games remaining in their season, the Lightning currently hold the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, six points ahead of the Washington Capitals who have ahold of the final playoff spot in the East.
Cernak, 26, has one goal and 10 assists in 60 games with Tampa Bay this season.
He has played his entire six-year NHL career with the Lightning.
