Lucid Air Prices Cut as Automaker Revises Standard Equipment – The Torque Report

[ad_1]

Lucid is cutting prices of its Air sedan for 2024 while reworking trim level equipment.

“This transforms the flexibility and choice for our customers,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid. “By listening to owners and prospective customers, I’m delighted that we can now provide such compelling choices.”

The 2024 Lucid Air is still offered in Pure, Touring, Grand Touring and Sapphire grades. But the first three will see changes in pricing and equipment. The $250,800 Lucid Air Sapphire remains unaffected.

For 2024, the base Lucid Air Pure, seen above, comes with a single motor producing 430 horsepower and 419 miles of range. That’s good for a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. The rear-wheel drive Pure starts at $78,900 including destination charge. That’s down from the 2023 Pure’s $83,900 MSRP. But last year’s Pure provided two motors, all-wheel drive, 480 horsepower, 410 miles of range and a 3.8-second 0-60 mph time.

Still, a $2,500 Comfort & Convenience Package adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, soft-close doors, four-zone climate control and power rear window sunshades. Also, leather trim and massaging seats are available for the first time on a Pure.

The midlevel Air Touring, shown above, now starts at $87,400 (shipping included), down from $96,500 in 2023. Its dual motors provide 620 horsepower to all four wheels, reaches 60 mph in 3.4 seconds while travelling 411 miles on a charge. But the trim in price comes with a trim in standard equipment. So, upgraded leather is now a $3,000 option, while 14- and 20-way power seats with ventilation and massage are also now optional. You can also get the Comfort & Convenience Package, which also comes with a power frunk lid and heated wipers on the Touring.

Next comes the Lucid Air Grand Touring, although pricing and range will not be announced until early in 2024. But for reference, the 2023 model cost $127,100 and had 480 miles of range. While it will still produce 819 horsepower and provide a 3-second 0-60 mph time, it too loses standard gear. If you’d like the glass canopy roof, it will now set you back an additional $3,500 option. A leather interior is also optional, along with premium leather and 20-way power front seats with ventilation and massage.

While the lower prices make the 2024 Lucid Air more competitive with its growing list of rivals, it also reflects the company’s slowing sales. Lucid estimates it will manufacture 8,000 vehicles this year, down from the 10,000 units predicted earlier this year.
