Machete-wielding home intruder arrested

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Several people are recovering from injuries after an early morning home invasion in Escondido Thursday, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the attack happened around 1:30 a.m. at a residence located near the 1000 block of Camellia Street.
Authorities said a suspect — now identified as Jess Martinez — climbed through a window and then allegedly threatened to kill six people who were inside the home.
A man and woman were hurt in the debacle, though the nature of their injuries was not disclosed. The department said those inside the home eventually tackled Martinez to the ground and stabbed him in the neck.
Everyone is expected to make a full recovery.
Martinez was arrested and is facing several charges including suspicion of attempted murder and burglary, authorities said.
