Madonna, 65, ‘didn’t think she was going to make it’ after serious health scare

Madonna admitted during the opening night of her Celebration Tour that she wasn’t sure if she was going to ‘make it’ after suffering a terrifying health scare.
In June this year, it was revealed that the singer, known around the world as the Queen of Pop, was in intensive care.
The 65-year-old was reportedly ‘found unresponsive’ after contracting a ‘serious bacterial infection’, with her daughter Lourdes, 27, remaining at her mother’s side.
After postponing stops of her global tour, the Like A Prayer singer later announced the new rescheduled dates as she recovered from her terrifying ordeal.
After being treated in the ICU, her manager released a statement that read: ‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.’
Last night at London’s O2 arena, Madonna looked like she was fighting fit as she belted out some of the biggest hits of her career – while also pausing for a moment to reflect on her year and the fears that she had for her life.
At one point, she was standing on the stage on her own with a guitar, as she told her audience: ‘I want to say it was a crazy year for me as well. And I didn’t think I was gonna make it. Neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me.
‘I forgot five days of my life… or my death, I don’t really know where I was. But the angels were protecting me and my children were there. And my children always save me, every time.’
The multi-Grammy Award winner continued, revealing what she felt was the reason why she survived.
‘If you want to know my secret, and you want to know how I pulled through and how I survived, I thought, “I’ve got to be there for my children. I have to survive for them,”’ she said.
Shortly after the performance began, Madonna had to deal with unexpected tech malfunctions, when the sound appeared to stop working.
The superstar took the mishap in her stride, chatting to the audience as she patiently waited until she could resume the concert as planned.
‘This is exactly what you don’t want to happen on your opening night, so this wasn’t planned, I’m sorry,’ she confessed.
After a short while, the singer was back in business, rocking out on stage to her fans’ delight.
