A man has been charged after a kitten was stolen from a Waterloo pet store. Police say the kitten has not been located.

A 58-year-old Waterloo man has been charged with theft under $5,000 after a kitten was stolen from a store in Waterloo.

Police received a report of a theft from a Pet Value at Northfield Drive and Weber Street on Nov. 24. Police say a suspect entered the store and took the kitten from a cage “before concealing it and leaving the store.”

Posters of the missing kitten show it’s white and grey and was 10 weeks old when it was taken from the store. The kitten’s name is Crosby.

Officers received a number of tips from the public, which led them to identify the suspect.

The man is expected to appear in court in January.

Police told CBC News the whereabouts of Crosby the kitten is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
