Man (36) dies after car went out of control and hit wall in Cork

A 36-year-old man died in a single vehicle road traffic collision on the outskirts of Cork City early on Monday morning.
The man, a Polish national with family in Cobh in east Cork, lost his life when his car crashed into a wall on the Lower Glanmire Road at around 7am as he was driving eastward toward Dunkettle.
The car burst into flames. A number of units from Cork City fire brigade attended and brought the blaze under control . The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were later removed to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem.
Both the eastbound lane of the Lower Glanmire Road and the westbound lane heading towards Cork City were closed for several hours to allow a forensic crash investigator examine the scene. The car was also removed to allow a Garda PSV inspector examine it.
GardaĆ have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have been in the Lower Glanmire Road area at the time and has dash cam footage to contact them at Mayfield Garda station on 021 4558510.
Provisionally, the death is the 45th on Irish roads this year.
