OAKLAND — A man was fatally shot Wednesday morning in East Oakland, authorities said.
The name of the man, believed to be in his 20s, was not immediately released.
The shooting, which prompted a gunshot-detection alert, happened about 6:29 a.m. Wednesday outside in the 1900 block of 90th Avenue, police said.
Responding officers found shell casings and a blood trail but did not locate the person who had been shot, authorities said.
But the victim had gotten his own transportation to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival, authorities said.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests were announced.
The killing is the 64th homicide investigated this year by Oakland police. Last year at this time police had investigated 69 homicides in the city.
