Parents often surprise their kids with gifts and toys when they are young. In most cases, the gifts are probably things that the kids might have been demanding for a very long time. Growing up, our parents used to gift us bicycles as they were considered to be an expensive affair back then. Now, things are slowly changing, and so have the demands from kids. We have seen parents gifting expensive phones and gaming consoles to their children. Here, we have a video from Kerala where a father actually built a miniature Mahindra jeep for his kids to play with. Let’s check out the video to learn more about the jeep in detail.

The video has been shared by Food N Tips by Safeer on their YouTube channel. The video discusses the mini jeep and how it was built. It should be noted that this is a working model, and kids can actually drive it around. The Jeep was built by Mr. Shakir, a resident of Areekode in the Malappuram district, Kerala. Shakir had the idea to build an electric car or jeep like this for kids for a very long time. He actually built this mini Jeep 5-6 years ago, but it only recently became viral on the internet.

Jeeps from Mahindra are still quite easily spotted on the roads in Malappuram, as many people rely on them to commute through narrow, steep roads in the village. The design of the mini jeep is actually similar to the original jeep. Mr. Shakir built this jeep himself. He is actually an NRI and used to work on this project whenever he was in Kerala on leave. He mentions in the video that it would have taken him around 6 months to a year to complete this project. The chassis of the jeep was built by him at his house using metal pipes.

The body panels on this jeep were made from metal sheets, and to achieve the desired shape and design, he had to beat the metal using a hammer and other tools several times. When he realized that this process was creating a lot of noise and becoming a disturbance to the neighbors, he took all his sheets to a nearby workshop, rented the tools, and worked on them himself.

The finished product is a mini working model that looks just like the original jeep. Shakir even installed a working leaf spring suspension in this jeep, just like the original SUV. He also installed metal bumpers at the front and rear and had a custom soft top built for his SUV. He even installed power steering and LED headlights on this jeep. The mini jeep seen here is powered by a 1000-watt motor, which is paired with a manual gearbox. Shakir doesn’t explain how the gearbox on this jeep works in the video.

The main reason why he wanted to build this jeep was for his kids. In the video, we can see his children driving the jeep without any issues on the private property. The jeep can accommodate 4-5 children. As this is an electric car, the jeep has a driving range of 60-70 km, and the approximate cost of building this was around Rs 1.5 lakh 5-6 years ago.
