(BCN) — A man who died when his truck bed hit a freeway overpass in Oakland earlier this month was identified Tuesday by the Alameda County Coroner as Jose Pascoal De Andrade Filho, a 76-year-old Pittsburg resident.

Filho was driving a Volvo D16 three-axle truck north on March 9 in the 3500 block of West Street when the truck bed, which was still elevated by its hydraulic system, struck the overpass.

An initial investigation by Oakland police determined Filho was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Filho was from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and grew up in Sao Paolo, according to an obituary from McNary Williams Jackson Funeral & Cremation. A memorial for Filho was held on Saturday.
