Man Utd news LIVE – Ratcliffe to end Sancho feud, Ten Hag in Rashford admission

Copenhagen right-back Elias Jelert believes Marcus Rashford was “unfortunate” to be sent off in their thrilling Champions League encounter.

Rashford was given his marching orders in the 42th minute after catching Jelert on the shin. Referee Donatas Rumsas didn’t initially hand Rashford a red card, but following a VAR review, the England international was dismissed as United had to play more than a half with 10 men.

However, Jelert has since delivered his verdict on the incident and thought Rashford was unlucky. “It is after the tackle at the red card, which I also think is unfortunate,” Jelert said. “He just tries to screen, but I get hit high and wiggle my ankle violently. Now that it has cooled, I can feel it is stiff and swollen.”

Jelert also revealed that Rashford apologised to the Dane after the tackle. “Yes, when they checked on VAR, he was there to say sorry,” he added. “So there was nothing malicious about it.”
