Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan extended his OHL-best point streak to 21 games in dramatic fashion on Sunday.
The London Knights star scored on a breakaway with 21 seconds left in overtime to give his team a 4-3 road win over the Oshawa Generals on Sunday.
The OHL-leading Knights erased a 3-0 deficit with three goals in the third period before Cowan’s winner extended London’s team point streak to 23 games.
Cowan now has 42 points (16 goals) in his 21-game streak and is tied for eighth in league scoring with 70 points (25 goals) in 40 games.
The Leafs picked Cowan, 18, in the first round (28th overall) of last year’s NHL Draft.
Cowan was part of Canada’s team that was eliminated in the quarterfinals at this year’s world junior championship.
