Michael Jones named as worker who died at site of Everton FC’s new stadium

A construction worker killed at the site of Everton FC’s new stadium in Liverpool has been named.
Michael Jones, 26, died in hospital following the incident at Bramley-Moore Dock, at around 1pm on Monday.
Mr Jones’s family described him as a “lifelong blue” who was “happy to be working on the new stadium”.
“The family would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support. It is with our greatest sadness that our beloved son, brother uncle and friend Michael has sadly passed away,” the statement said.
“We want to thank the NHS staff and work colleagues who did their best for Michael. He will be missed beyond words.”
A post-mortem to establish the cause of death is set to take place on Wednesday.
