Miss New York Rachelle di Stasio hits the campaign trail for her City Council candidate mom who ‘gets the job done’

A Republican City Council candidate has unleashed a charm and beauty offensive on the campaign trail — her daughter, Miss New York USA.
Rachelle di Stasio, who won the crown last month, has been barnstorming the Upper West Side on behalf of her mom, Diane di Stasio.
“She is just someone that always gets the job done,” the beauty queen, 26, told The Post. “She does whatever it takes to do what she needs to do and it always gets it done. That’s what I believe makes her an incredible candidate.”
Her 62-year-old mom is challenging incumbent Democratic Councilwoman Gale Brewer.
On Monday the mother-daughter pair met with firefighters at the Engine 54/Ladder 4/Battalion 9 firehouse at 48th Street and Eighth Avenue, which lost 15 members on 9/11.
On Thursday the di Stasios held a joint meet and greet on the Upper West Side at the home of a friend and donor.
The two share an unbreakable bond.
Rachelle was conceived in trauma when Diane di Stasio was raped in 1996 by a man she knew.
“I chose to keep her and she ended up being the biggest source of my healing,” she said. “Being able to keep her and nurture her helped me recover from that and strengthen me.”
The single mother faces a longshot bid in the solidly blue district but hopes her stance on the migrant crisis and tough-on-crime approach will resonate with voters.
She’s raised $20,000 so far and has qualified for matching funds.
“Billions of dollars will now be taken from every city department to pay for and subsidize an endless surge of undocumented migrants,” she said. “The city does not have the capacity to properly care for and easily assimilate them into our local communities. Until we get our own house in order, I believe it is irresponsible for New York to welcome undocumented folks from elsewhere.”
Rachelle di Stasio has her race to worry about — she heads to the Miss USA pageant in Reno, Nev. on Tuesday, with the winner crowned on Sept. 29.
Afterward, she’ll resume her duties as Miss New York USA — and campaigning for her mother.
The beauty queen also serves as managing director of the Ellison Ballet Foundation, after performing as a soprano with the San Francisco Opera.
Public office is “probably not” in her future.
“That’s more her dream. Not mine,” Rachelle said. “I am someone there on the sidelines for her in this endeavor, and I am going to give her my full support.”
