The massive Bush Creek East wildfire burning in B.C.’s Shuswap has destroyed or damaged more than 160 structures, according to an incomplete survey of impacted areas.
Officials with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District provided the count during a briefing Friday afternoon, noting that members of Canada Task Force 1 have only been able to conduct rapid damage assessments in areas deemed safe for entry.
“Please be aware there are still active wildfires in the region where property assessments could not be carried out,” the CSRD’s Erick Thompson said.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
