A motorcyclist died after crashing into an MTA bus yesterday at the beginning of the day in the Bronx (NYC).
The incident occurred at the intersection of East 170th Street and Jerome Avenue, a neighborhood mt eden, around 9:30 am on Thursday. According to NYPD, the unidentified man riding the motorcycle was traveling west on 170th Street before to lose controlreported Fox News.
It was at least the fourth accident involving an MTA bus in recent days, after Monday night one collided with a construction crane in Midtown Manhattan, between Madison Av and 48th St, injuring several passengers on board, reported CBS News.
Last week a young man on a skateboard was fatally struck in Queens and another MTA crash left several injured in Manhattan. Also last month there was 77 injured in a bus crash in New York: one tourist and another MTA.
Additional to gun violence traffic accidents are another big challenge for Mayor Eric Adams. This despite “Vision Zero” (Vision Zero), traffic safety plan created in 2014 by then-new mayor Bill de Blasio, who promised to make the city safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists with a goal of zero deaths by 2024. According to the NYPD, cyclist deaths increased 260% in the first six months of 2023 and 325% since the implementation of the “Vision Zero” plan in 2014. In many cases the drivers flee.
