Nets sign Harry Giles III who hasn’t played in NBA since 2020-21 season

The Nets are bringing Harry Giles III to training camp in their latest low-risk flier.

After being out of the NBA for the past two seasons, Giles will join Brooklyn, at least for the moment. It’s unclear if it’s an Exhibit 10 or a one-year, non-guaranteed deal, but the end result is the same: essentially a tryout.

TNT was the first to report the news, which has since been confirmed by The Post.

The oft-injured Giles hasn’t played in the league since 2020-21, when the Duke product averaged 2.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 9.2 minutes over 38 games for the Trail Blazers.

A 2017 first-round draft pick, Giles has seen a once-promising career short-circuited by knee woes, having undergone three knee surgeries dating back to his collegiate days.

Giles worked out for a number of teams during Las Vegas Summer League.

He also worked out for several more teams last month, including the Nets, Knicks, Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic.

The 6-foot-10 forward with a 7-foot-3 wingspan had signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Los Angeles Clippers in September 2021, but got waived before the start of that season.

After signing to their G-League affiliate Agua Caliente Clippers, he suffered a season-ending torn ACL and got released in January 2022.

But trying to jump-start his career, Giles had 42 points playing in the Miami Pro League, where future Brooklyn teammates Royce O’Neale and Dennis Smith Jr. also played.

It’s very on-brand for the Nets in taking a shot on a reclamation project. Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris and to an extent D’Angelo Russell fit that mold.

And now trying to build some — make that any — frontcourt depth behind starting center Nic Claxton, they have drafted teenager Noah Clowney and signed both Trendon Watford and Darius Bazley to non-guaranteed deals.

Giles can come to camp and compete with the latter duo. Rebuilding his career in the G-League with Long Island is also an option.
