A New Hampshire cop made sure one man had his “Happy Meal” — by completing a DoorDash order himself after pulling over the food delivery driver for speeding.
Last week, Brentwood Police Officer Chris Spitalere pulled over a DoorDash driver for allegedly speeding through the small, rural town of about 4,500.
After checking her driver’s license and registration, he found both had been suspended.
Soon after, the DoorDash driver’s car was towed and she got a ride back home, leaving the signature brown bag emblazoned with a golden arch unattended.
Officer Robert McConn, who arrived at the scene to help, noticed the overlooked McDonald’s order, turned to Spitalere, and said: “We probably should just get that delivered,” WMUR reported.
Spitalere then went on to make the delivery, driving it to the home of David Eldredge and walking up to the front steps with the McDonald’s bag in hand.
“There’s a knock on the door and I thought, oh, that’s DoorDash and there’s a police officer there,” Eldredge said.
“After he left, I thought maybe I should’ve given him a tip,” he added.
While Eldredge was taken aback by his unexpected delivery driver, he thanked the officers for ensuring he got his food.
“Sometimes, administrative issues can jam you up and it’s not really your fault, so we did what we could to try and help her on scene and obviously help her with DoorDash,” said Officer Robert McConn.
