Nigerian defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel was caught at the center of chaotic scenes after the Turkish Super Lig matchday 30 clash between Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor ended in a 3-2 victory the visitors.
However, the post-match celebrations turned chaotic as Trabzonspor fans, who had been throwing foreign objects onto the field throughout the game, attacked the Fenerbahçe players.
As the Fenerbahçe players gathered to celebrate their victory in the midfield after the final whistle, Trabzonspor fans rushed onto the field.
In the midst of the chaos, Super Eagles star, Bright Osayi Samuel was captured on camera delivering a fist attack to a masked Trabzonspor fan. The clear photograph of the incident highlighted the severity of the situation.
As Fenerbahce’s players gathered in the center of the pitch to celebrate their win, a lone Trabzonspor supporter entered the field wearing a mask, attempting to provoke the Fenerbahce players. Security quickly intervened to tackle the intruder, but this did not prevent a scuffle between Osayi-Samuel and the invader.
Osayi-Samuel pursued the trespasser and landed a punch before climbing on top of him as he was apprehended. Despite efforts by his teammates to restrain him, Osayi-Samuel broke free and engaged in the altercation.
Meanwhile, Michy Batshuayi, the former Chelsea and Crystal Palace forward, also became involved as fans flooded onto the field. Attempting to intercept a fan heading towards the dugouts, Batshuayi aimed a spinning back kick, although he only managed to make a glancing blow before security intervened.
The scenes of chaos continued as stewards chased individuals across the pitch, with conflicts erupting in various areas of the ground. Despite the disturbances, Fenerbahce emerged victorious thanks to a late goal from Batshuayi himself.
Osayi-Samuel, 26, joined Fenerbahce from QPR in 2021 and has since become a key player for the Turkish side, while Batshuayi, 30, has had a varied career across Europe, including stints in the Premier League.
