Nissan Hyper Tourer concept: Another Peak at Nissan’s Battery-Electric Future – The Torque Report

[ad_1]

In third of four announcements, Nissan revealed the Nissan Hyper Tourer, its third advanced electric-vehicle (EV) concept ahead of the Japan Mobility Show, which opens to the public on Oct. 26th

Of course, you could be forgiven for calling this futuristic vehicle a minivan, which it basically is. But what a minivan.

It’s brimming with the latest trendy advanced thinking, including autonomous driving, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) functionality and a high-capacity battery that can be used to power other things. Images show an interior that holds six, with a center console that runs the length of the interior. The front-row bucket seats swivel, allowing them to face rear, towards the front-facing rear row. In an effort to relax passengers, a flat LED panel in the floor shows images of a riverbed and the sky. And, should those in the rear object to the music you’re playing, they can use “a wearable display” to view and operate the audio system up front. They can also tell you where to go, as these backseat drivers can also operate the navigation system.

But beyond its potentially narcissistic passengers, this is a van that really cares about you, as its AI system screens your brain waves, heart rate, breathing and, believe it or not, perspiration. Then, it adjusts the music and lighting to fit your mood.

The instrument panel (IP) features a wide horizontal display, an IP with capacitive touch switches and a yoke-style steering wheel. While details about the Nissan Hyper Tourer’s electric powertrain weren’t revealed, it’s said to have all-wheel drive.

The Nissan Hyper Tourer concept joins the Nissan Hyper Adventure concept aimed at the eco-conscious explorer and the Nissan Hyper Urban concept SUV aimed at city dwellers.

The three concepts will be joined by a fourth vehicle shortly. Stay tuned.
